Images show domestic scenes outside a house near Ruatoria, where the story 'Washday at the Pa' originated, taken in 1963 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified.
The images show a children cutting a log, a woman bending over a washing tub and other children playing nearby. The woman in Frame 2 is identified as Animata te Runa, who was the fictious Mrs Wereta in the 1964 school bulletin 'Washday at the Pa'.
Some of the images in the set AWM-0582 to AWM-0602 were published in 'Washday at the Pa'.

Animata te Runa died at age 56 on 30 December 1980.
