Published by J. D. Wickham, [1879?], missing pages 93-94. Includes many annotations by Cowan, and loose papers including correspondence, clippings, drafts, and photographs. Also an image of Patara Te Tuhi, and a sketch map of the Waikato District tipped in to the back cover.
Correspondence includes a letter from C. [Charles?] Garlick, of Taneatua, dated 31 January 1928; a letter from A. R. Weal, of Pukeatua, Te Awamutu, dated 20 February 1930, which contains information about Te Awamutu Troop, Waikato Cavalry, provided by his father T. Weal; and a letter by George Graham [signed also as Hori Kereama], of Auckland, dated 11 March 1942. Graham's letter includes discussion relating to the legal status of the Treaty of Waitangi, Māori participation in both World Wars, Kīngitanga, and Māori leadership. Also includes two photographic prints, one of Von Tempsky, and one of Gate Pā Memorial Gates.
