Images show scenes from the annual coronation hui held at Turangawaewae Marae, Ngaruawahia, taken in 1963 by Ans Westra. Unless otherwise stated all persons are unidentified. Two young boys in the band were named at a later date by an unidentified attendee at the hui: Wehe Tupaea and Ken Tumai (frames 2 to 5). Information from enlarged proofsheets produced for an exhibition in 2009.
Images show scenes of people attending the annual coronation celebrations and include the ratana Taniwharau Brass Band and children playing outside.
