Gore Porter was the Secretary for the Consolidated Goldfields Company when the company was liquidated. He purchased the company building and contents which included company plans and records.

Finding Aids: Catalogue created by John Barry and John Taylor..
Provenance: John Barry was a student at the Otago Mines School and specialised in mining plans. He contacted Mr Porter who had the plans stored in his backyard coalshed. Mr Porter gave them to John Barry who brought them to the Hocken Library around 1968.
