Map features detailed inset maps of Waitara West & Huirangi Districts, Blocks V & IX, and Waitara East District, Blocks I & V. Labelled - 'Showing Field of Operations during Maori War 1860-61', with references in map to historical events, including "Puketakauere Unsuccessfully attacked by Military June 27th 1860", and a locality on the Waitara River labelled "Lt Macnaghten B.A. killed Mar 17 1861".
Manuscript annotations in pencil and ink, with selected sections and boundaries highlighted in colour.
