This photograph was part of a World War I album compiled by Lance Corporal Alfred Buckland of the Auckland Mounted Rifles. Buckland served in the Middle East, Gallipoli, Sinai, and Palestine. He came into the possession of a camera of a Turkish prisoner of war and later had the film developed. This image was on that film.
