Description

Item of two parts in which Dame Whina Cooper (Te Rarawa) of Te Taitokerau and Hirini Moko Mead (Ngāti Awa, Ngāti Tūwharetoa, Tūhourangi ) give their views on the future of the Department of Maori Affairs.

Part one starts with a short recording of Dame Whina Cooper speaking at a parliamentary event (01:30 duration). This is followed by interviewer Henare Kingi (Ngā Puhi) talking with Hirini Moko Mead who voices his concerns about the restructuring of the Department of Māori Affairs.

In part two Huirangi Waikerepuru (Ngāti Ruanui) continues to interview Hirini Moko Mead on the future of the department and the government policy paper 'He Tirohanga Rangapu-partnership perspectives' (last ten minutes).
