Track 7: Adult pair, territory morning calls, moving between song perches; distance 50m; Rerekapa Track area at head of Waitara River; bush; background blowflies; weather fine mild, slight N wind; recorded 14 Dec 1985, 0600-0630 hrs.
Track 8: Adult, territory calls in response to tape of its calls, including a stress type call, moving about territory; distance 4-5m; Pureora Forest Park, Tunawaea Stream; tawa-podocarp forest; background other bird species; weather very cold, frosty fine calm; recorded 17 June 1986, 0600 hrs.
