Tracks 1 and 2: at Ngamanu Trust Sanctuary, Waikanae
Track 1: territory calls; no. 2 pond, surrounded by flax, raupo and carex; sitting on top of flax plant on a small island; distance 10m; some background noise; recorded 18 Mar 1983, 0715 hrs.
Track 2: adult; swamp vegetation near stream outlet to no. 1 pond; some background noise; weather fine calm mild; recorded 24 Apr 1985, 1500 hrs.
Tracks 3 and 4: single adults; at Shakespear Regional Park, Whangaparoa Peninsula
Track 3: male, territory call; raupo swamp below lagoon, Okoromai; keeping cover on swamp edge; distance 25m; background noise; weather fine calm mild; recorded 20 Oct 1989, 1000 hrs.
Track 4: call reacting to recordist's proximity to chicks; locality Haruhi Bay; farm paddocks with planted shelter and shrubbery; bird in swampy cover, shepherding chicks; distance 20m; background blowflies and bees; weather fine calm mild; recorded 21 Oct 1989, 1100 hrs.
