Track 1: adult; social communication; locality Kapiti Island, Red Whare, sitting on perches near whare; distance 4m; background fantail, bellbird, whitehead, pigeon flying; weather fine mild calm; recorded 1 Feb 1983, 1745 hrs.
Track 2: adult and juveniles, social communication; locality Kapiti Island, between old ranger's house site and swamp, tarata, ngaio, mahoe etc growing on bank from path down slope to swamp edge; sitting in trees or making short flights; distance 10-15m; bellbirds in background; weather cloudy cool, moderate SE wind; recorded 4 May 1985, 1415 hrs.
Track 3: adults; locality Little Barrier Island, lawn beside tall trees near ranger's house; moving around area giving calls; distance 10-15m; background noise people and rain on leaves; weather cool dull, drizzling rain; recorded 18 Aug 1988, 1000 hrs.
