Patricia Aisner worked for Prime Minister Peter Fraser as a secretary during the 1940s. In 1945 she accepted a posting to the Legation, later New Zealand Embassy in Washington, DC where she worked for Sir Carl Berendsen. Mentions taking dictation of personal letters from Peter Fraser after the death of his wife Janet Fraser; celebrations of the end of the war in Europe; dress code for women of the day; travelling by ship to Panama and entertainment on board; flying from Panama to Washington DC; type of work undertaken in the Embassy and personnel who worked there; trips to the United Nations and remaining in the United States after the three year term of duty finished. Patricia Aisner has since died.
