Description

Recalls auditioning for a pantomime at the Civic Theatre about 1939. Describes getting the part and singing onstage or perched on the Wurlitzer organ as it rose from the basement. Recalls being hailed as `Auckland's Bobby Breen' and helping sell War Bonds in this role during World War II. Talks about the organist Howard Moody. Mentions that he remained a performer but his early career ended with the death of the organist at the war.
