Tony Simpson met Denis Glover when he moved to Wellington in 1969. Describes Glover at PEN (New Zealand Society of Authors) meetings, and interviewing him for his book 'The Sugarbag Years' in the 1970's. Comments on Glover's clear-headedness when drinking. Talks about meeting him again through Les Cleveland when Glover held his own with young poets in Christchurch.
