Michael Charles Payne born Wanganui. Gives some family background. Recalls childhood on a farm; schooldays, with reference to Quaker School and Arthur Douglas; life at Auckland Univeristy, doing a five year course in Architecture. Discusses Quakerism pathway and Quaker Wedding at Friends School, Wanganui. Describes position with Housing Society and rented apartment on edge of Hong Kong University. Describes building of orphanage playground and fostering of children. Mentions NZ Meat Producers' Board and discusses designing restaurant for Expo '70 (Osaka). Describes opening of Exhibition in hotel Gifu. Other schemes mentioned include: Council Housing Urban Renewal Scheme by the river in Wanganui; Ratana scheme, work at Putiki Marae restoring Meeting house; Garden of Peace (one and a half acres of Pinus Radiata); low cost housing; Wanganui Education Settlement Trust and process of induction for new settlers. Mentions building the Trojan (boat).Discusses Maori Land Occupation of 1995 at Motua Gardens.
