Description

Vivienne (Kay) Morgan born Waihi, nine months after father went overseas to World War II. Outlines family background - one uncle worked in mine at time of accident when cage slipped - is still alive at the age of 87 years. Trained at Hamilton Teachers' Training College and talks about career choices for women at that time. Is presently employed as a therapist for Social Welfare in child protection field. Discusses extent of family violence and violence in society. Talks about the double standards of society as regards violence and refers to rugby and television programmes. Describes her experience as a marriage councillor and men's attitudes to marriage councilling. Mentions the huge division in Waihi caused by varying views on mining.
