At the age of 87 years Dudley Crump from Bristol, England recalls his arrival in New Zealand on board H.M.S. Ruapehu, and his first job on a farm in Pahiatua. He describes vividly the journey by train from Wellington , crossing the Rimutaka Range, and climbing at about 4 miles per hour.
