Gives family backgound and details of rural life in South Taranaki and jobs in dairy factories in the area. Recalls enlistment, time at Awapuni, voyage to Egypt with the Main Body on the 'Arawa'.
Reference to German prisoners, church parades and the Salvation Army. Describes training camp at Zeitoun, action at The Virgin's Breast, the Battle of the Wazir, also comments on Cairo and Egypt in general. Recalls Anzac Cove, Gallipoli, the Daisy Patch (the advance on Krithia) and Courtnay's Post.
He was wounded in both legs by sniper fire and shipped to Alexandria. Describes conditions in hospital. He was shipped home on the 'Tahiti', describes voyage and reception on arrival, treatment at Hawera Hospital and convalescence at King George V Hospital - Rotorua. Recalls 1918 influenza epidemic. Comments on RSA, Gallipoli Association and Anzac Day Parades. Describes the conditions at Gallipoli.
