Description

Kate Drewet was born 21 Sep 1911 at Milford, Auckland and lived there all her life. Discusses her father's family who were original settlers in the area, arriving in 1865. Describes her childhood, education, family background and contracting infantile paralysis in 1914. Talks in depth about her career as a shorthand/typist with Bond and Bond Ltd, Auckland, 1928-1960. Speaks about effect of WWII on women's jobs, grocery business, company personnel, the tea business, staff wives, merger with L.D. Nathan and Co. Ltd.
