Postcard shows an embroidered panel showing a New Zealand shield with four stars, a fern leaf, some forget-me-nots and a red scroll with the word New Zealand on it.
The verso show a handwritten message from Willie: "My dear Darling Rene, I am sending you this card to you love, and telling you that [I] love you and you don't know it. It is three weeks ago that I have no letter from you. I suppose you have got a boy by now, but never mind Rene dear, there was one who love you and that one is fighting for you. Dear Rene I have lost my voise [sic], I can't speak with the cold and my feets are frozen off me you have no I-dare of this war. Goodbye love from Willie"
