- Description
Colour postcard issued to mark the visit to New Zealand of the American Fleet in 1908 shows head and shoulders vignette portraits of five men: the Mayor of Auckland (Arthur Myers), the Governor of New Zealand (William Lee Plunket), Admiral Sperry, the Premier of New Zealand (Sir Joseph Ward) and the Hon Mahuta, M.L.C. There is a central scene of the American Fleet in the Waitemata Harbour. A text panel at the lower edge summarises the history of the United States. The top corners show the American and the New Zealand flags.
The verso has an advertisement for Roslyn All-wool underwear.
