Electronic file is a history on the life of Dr Robert Porter Welch, English migrant to Australia and New Zealand, compiled by Charles Rupert Welch.
The history covers Welch's background in England, his life as a medical practioner in New South Wales from 1839; and his emigration to New Zealand in 1853 to settle in Wellington and then Wairarapa. It covers his medical career, and involvement in the New Zealand provinical government.
The document includes digital copies of various papers which support the history: a copy of 'Miscellanies in Prose and Verse' by William Woolls, copies of poems [probably from 'Songs, Ballads, and Rhymes' by Robert Porter Welch], copies of various writings by Welch, and newspaper clippings and documents which relate to Welch.
