Description

A group of Maori in haka formation, holding canoe paddles in the air. They are dancing in front of Ohinemutu pa's palisades. Large whare and pataka are visible beyond the palisades. Several waka are on the beach to the right, with one tied up in the foreground. Further people are seated and standing to the right

A drawing copied by G F Angas in 1844 without acknowledgement to Merrett. It was reproduced as a lithograph in Angas' The New Zealander illustrated (London, 1847), plate 53
