Description

Transparencies (slides) relating to Michael Alexander Harvey's service during the Vietnam War of 1961-1975 taken between 1967-1968 by unidentified photographers.

The slides include images of soldiers, explosions, helicopters, APCs [Armoured personnel carriers], tanks and paddy fields. In some images the soldiers are standing outside a tent with sandbags at its base, and groups of soldiers marching, riding on top of a tank and APC, also soliers with guns and with smoke after explosions. Some slides have captions which include: 'cordon'; 'Goldylocks'; 'Mac'; 'Bob Young'; 'Shrapnel on tree'; 'APC pulling tank'; 'US armoured convoy ambush' and 'Martin Steeds'. The 'Goldylocks' image includes a soldier standing next to a sign which says 'Welcome to tombstone territory. Goldylocks and his 34 performing bears'.

Arrangement: Slides have been kept in the same order as supplied by Harvey. The first ten slides on this sheet were in a box titled 'FSB Balmoral' and the remainder were in box 2, which was labelled 'Mike Harvey'. Dates on the slides appear to be when they were developed.
