- Description
Card shows a ship portrait, from a painting, of a vessel with a single yellow funnel and two masts. In the right background is a low-lying strip of land with palm trees.
The ship is assumed to be the HMAS Southern Cross, built in 1933 for the Melanesian Mission of the Anglican Church, and later requisitioned by the Royal Australian Navy in 1941.
Verso has handwritten words: "W S Southward 23/10/49". "To Aunty Vera, Uncle Jim, John and Isobel, from Margaret".
