Shows a farm scene, probably in Otago. To the left, three workhorses walk side by side; in the distance to the left, the house and farm buildings can be seen, with a woman and two children crossing the field. To the right is a bull, a cow and a calf; and beyond them three kennels, each with a dog outside. In the distance are the Southern Alps, showing snow down to their foothills
Inscribed on backing board; wrongly named as 'An early Wairarapa homestead'
