Shows the Rimutaka Road with a bridge and a ford over the stream, bush-clad hills and the hills of the Rimutaka Range in the background. In the left foreground are two men on horseback, with dogs, herding cows
Sale catalogue gives title as 'Abbotts [sic] Creek crossing'. The name Torohonga Creek is no longer used, but may be Abbots Stream (or Creek) on the South Wairarapa side of the hill, near Featherston
Inscriptions: Recto - bottom right - C D Barraud / NZ 1869 [in brushpoint]
