Volume begins with Vincent Stichbury sending letters and parcels to family, 1 Jan 1917. Stichbury working in London at a war office. Brief entries detail sightseeing trips around London and England, visits to the theatre and horseracing events, and activities with his mother in town. Sails back to New Zealand on 10 Mar 1917 aboard the "Rotorua". Records shipboard life with scant notes. Stopovers in Virigina and Jamaica, arrived in Auckland 29 Apr 1917. Diary continues with entries relating to visits to horseracing events and trips around Auckland. Received discharge papers 30 May 1915 and this is the last entry in diary. Also includes address details of contacts in the endpages of the volume.
