Description: The first half of the album consists of a collection of postcards from many parts of the world, including New Zealand; many are coloured. One tourist postcard taken by George Valentine is labelled `Patarangukai, Maori chief'; others show groups of Maori; and another taken by Muir and Moodie is of a "House boat, Wanganui River". The latter part of the album consists of photographs of the Coromandel Peninsula, Bay of Islands, Whangarei and Kawau, taken on a Christmas cruise, 1913-1914. Description: Photographs relating to Ecclesfield property at Blue Mountains Road, Silverstream, Upper Hutt, chiefly taken circa 1930s but also a few dated circa 1960s and one circa 1910s . Photographers unidentified except for portrait of Miss North. Images show: - photograph taken ca 1910, showing two women riders and horses on a bush track, later become either Blue Mountains or Pinehaven Road. Identity of women unknown. - the development of the property and the building of Miss North's house in the 1930s. Many feature Frank (Rangi) Phillips who worked there for many years. Includes view of Pinehaven Road leading toward Wyndham Road, at that stage with bare fields on either side, taken from the then undeveloped Te Kouka look-out point. Also includes view of the main bush track near the Pinehaven entrance to the Reserve. - house and garden circa 1960; these include views over Pinehaven Road, now with houses, taken from the Te Kouka look-out point; a view of one of the upper tracks leading to the look-out; images of the garden and Miss North's house. - portrait of Miss E M North in her house, taken by S P Andrew in 1967. Description: Photographs collected by Mrs Esther Ecclesfield for her daughter Esma Ecclesfield (i.e. Esther Mary Ecclesfield, later known as Esther Mary North, or Esma North). None of the people shown are identified. Several images show camping and views of bays on Waiheke island. Many of the photographs were taken in the Napier area, including several of a woman and two young girls with bicycles standing outside a house in Seaview terrace, Napier, and an interior view of the house; yachts; the Napier Arcade, with the Arcadia Tea-Rooms; children at a Napier beach; and a horse-drawn carriage travelling through water along the foreshore to Cape Kidnappers. Page 4 shows the original Otatara (Ashridge) homestead. Various views around Wellington include Lower Hutt, Belmont Road, Wilton's Bush, Breaker Bay, Muritai and Titahi Bay. In the South Island most of the views were taken around Dunedin, showing Tomahawk Beach, Lawyer's Head and "Cargill's Gates" at St. Clair. Inscriptions: Album page - `Esma. With love from Mother.
