Source of descriptive information - Photographic Archive accessions librarian believes this image to be taken by Rev William James Hands as opposed to Rev Alfred Watson Hands who left New Zealand to return to England in 1887. Approximate date of the photograph given after discussions with Photographs Conserator Mark Strange and former Photograph Curator John Sullivan.

Provenance: Donated by Rachel Brown, Wellington, 2013. The photograph was bought in the 1950s by Dorothy and Laurie Brown, the donor's parents. Dorothy was a Karori resident as a child.
