Looks at fine dining in the South Island, noting that the latest 'Cuisine' Good Food Guide 2013 rates only three restaurants as worthy of a hat, that is, 'very good or better', none of which are in Christchurch. Talks to Christchurch restaurant owners Leanne Wright (Chillingworth Road) and Jonny Schwass (Harlequin Public House) about the ratings, and to Timaru chef (Riverstone Kitchen) about earning a hat.
