At one time the illumination was attributed to Alberto Sangorski (1862-1932), who worked for Sangorski & Sutcliffe between 1905 and 1911. However, the decorative work is not personally signed.

Created in England early 20th century by Sangorski & Sutcliffe.

Blue-green goatskin, decorated in borders of brown onlays tooled with floral designs, short rules and dots, and with red onlays at the cornerpieces; centre panel of upper board tooled in gold in an elaborate and detailed floral design with red onlays and inset with 5 garnets and 8 turquoise cabochons; spine gilt in compartments with floral designs and red onlays; goatskin turn-ins gilt ruled, white endpapers, gilt edges. Signed on upper turn-in "Illuminated and bound by Sangorski & Sutcliffe, London". Housed in a green goatskin (now faded) gatefold case, lined with cream watered silk and green velvet., Decoration: half-title written in gold with blue penwork; title page and first page of text elaborately decorated with bold acanthus leaves of green, red, blue, and brown on a gold ground, surrounding a large initial 'A' in pink and a miniature of a Pre-Raphaelite woman; text written in red and black ink with small decorated verse initials in red, blue and green ink, and some with gold leaf; final page of text has a 4-line initial 'A' decorated in blue, green and red, on a gold ground, with decoration extending up and down the outer margin, decorated tailpiece in blue, green, red and brown on a gold ground.
