Description

Photographs from the Rotorua Branch of the Native Forest Action Council taken circa 1970s-1980s by unidentified photographers.

The images show native state forests around New Zealand with a focus on beech and rimu logging in Pureora (Pikioriki Road area), Whirinaki, North Okarito, Mawhera (West Coast Beech scheme), and Golden Downs, Nelson. Clearfelling, partial felling, burnoff, pine conversion, roading, and issues associated with these activities such as waste and erosion feature. Also contains images of native forests which are scheduled for logging and the surrounding scenery as well as an image of an unidentified pulp mill. Some images are mounted on cardboard for display.
