Certificate of authenticity states 'This work is from the estate of the Kemp [i.e. Kempe?] family - England and has been brought back by John Leech Gallery for this exhibition / Auckland landscapes: Albin Martin'. Jemima Kempe married Albin Martin in 1841 in London. They emigrated to New Zealand in 1851, and settled as farmers in the Auckland area.
