Two panoramic views, one of the Waipa valley with its terraced structures, and Mount Pirongia, the dominant landmark in the valley. Whare and pataka are dotted on the landscape. The scene is rendered from an eastern perspective. Below is a panorama showing Mt Ngauruhoe (Ngariha), the mouth of the Mangakahu Stream flowing into the Ongarue River, European houses near the water and a nearby Maori village (named as Katiaho); and highlights the terraced structure of the land
