- Description
Shows a broad view looking out towards the sea, possibly from Paihia in the direction of Kororareka, or Russell. In the foreground is the manicured lawn of the Mission House, where a woman is walking. A Maori(?) figure, possibly a gardener, can also be seen. There are cabbage trees and houses in view. The leaves of a palm tree are in the immediate foreground on the right
The number of dwellings in view suggest the work dates from the 1860s. Other works held in the collections (e.g. A-048-007) suggest the Mission House in question is the one at Paihia
