Description

Postcard issued in support of prohibition of alcohol sales in New Zealand. The yellow side shows a photograph of goods that could have been bought by an average family of five persons, if they had not spent money on alcohol (£18, 5 shillings and 6 pence). The green side shows two lists of items that could be bought for that amount. One list is in clothing and the other shows a list of food that could be bought. The reader is urged to "strike out the top line" on both papers.

Pencil annotation indicates that the card was published in preparation for the general election and referendum of 1911.
