Description

An arrangement of text offering a reward of £100. The poster contains a list of the articles stolen, including chronometers, binoculars, jewellery, medals, coins, pounamu, jewellery and even a ring purported to contain a lock of Napoleon's hair.

Wellington Independent, 3 March 1866, page 5 recounts how the culprit "a short elderly man named James Young" in prison for another misdemeanour, confided his part in the museum robbery to a fellow prisoner who was able to lead police to the swag concealed in a nearby house.
