Description

Transparency slides of Australia selected by Mr Williams as a representative collection to be used in a series of lectures on his return to England.

This sheet shows views taken on a trip between Canberra and the Jenolan Caves.

Views include a distant view of the Mount Stromlo Observatory en route to Canberra; the Australian War Memorial at Canberra; Stanwell Park and Sublime Point; the road to Windsor; Kurrajong Heights. A number of views were taken in the Blue Mountains National Park area including Grose Vale (or Valley) including Govetts Leap and Pulpit Rock; the Three Sisters; Mount York; the Megalong Valley with Narrow Neck Plateau; and finally views of the Jenolan Cave entrance, the Jenolan Valley, the Carlotta Arch, and the Jenolan Caves Hotel.

The slides are not filed in his original numerical sequence, and are selected by subject relating to particular talks. Most of these slides were taken by Mr Williams but the sheet also includes some he purchased at the time.

Arrangement: These slides were selected by Mr Williams from his original sequence to create a representative collection of Australian images which he used in illustrated lectures on his return to England.
