Volume contains financial and personal details for the Jeffcoat family. Diary provides accounts of voyages from Auckland to Napier, sawmilling activities around the Napier region, Maori relations, business transactions, weather, and correspondence with family and business partners (Those named include - Cashmore, Marshall, Sanders, Chambers, Karaitiana, Prentice, Tuley, Holt).
Also includes poems written by E J (Elon Jeffcoat) and copied letters (these entries mostly date after 1867), sketches of vessels, and a memorandum of cost of improvements at Cabbage Bay (1870).
