Additional information from researcher: The building to the right of the railway line is the old pump-house for the Greymouth water supply. There was a reservoir much higher above the road that supplied the town.
The 'fishtail' arm of the railway distant signal is visible to the extreme right of the image

The Cobden Railway Bridge (Bridge 1 Rapahoe) was completed in 1898 as part of the railway north from Greymouth. It was demolished in mid-2006 (see www.ipenz.org.nz).
