Description

Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand in 1959. This sheet of slides includes a view of Lake Okataina with Mount Tarawera; the Waimangu thermal area including Frying Pan Lake, Gibraltar Rock, a small terrace, and the buried village at Te Wairoa; the Huka Falls; the hydro dam and village at Atiamuri; the dam lake at Maraetai; Karapiro dam; and Mount Pirongia.

Slides on this sheet are numbered 377-407 with gaps for those removed for lectures on New Zealand.

Arrangement: Mr Williams transferred slides (nos. 381-382, 386-389, 391, 405) showing Gibraltar Rock at Waimangu, steaming cliffs at Lake Rotomahana, Mount Tarawera, launch on Lake Tarawera and the buried village at Te Wairoa. These were taken as part of a representative collection on New Zealand for various lectures which he gave when he returned to England. The lecture series are filed in later sequences.
