A view of Captain Cook at the water's edge at Kealakekua Bay, Hawaii, based on a detail from the Webber painting of ca 1781. Cook would seem to be gesturing to his men to hold their fire, while a Hawaiian man raises a spike in readiness to stab Cook in the back
