Transparency slides of Mr E G Williams' (Edmund Gardner Williams') travel in New Zealand in 1959. This sheet of slides includes views of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, Gillespies Beach, Revingtons Hotel (Greymouth), over the Lewis Pass by bus to Christchurch. There he shows views of Warner's Hotel, a large Victorian house, a boathouse on the River Avon, a view from the Summit Road, Lyttelton Harbour and Homebush (home of the Deans family at Darfield). From Christchurch views include the Rakaia River and Lake Coleridge.
Slides on this sheet are numbered 148A-174 with gaps for those removed for lectures on New Zealand.
Arrangement: Mr Williams transferred slides (nos. 149-151, 154-155, 158-159, 161-162, 166, 168, 172) showing views of Franz Josef and Fox Glaciers, Maruia Springs, over the Lewis Pass, views of Christchurch (including Christchurch Cathedral and Cathedral Square, the River Avon and Scott's Statue), and the Rakaia River. These were taken as part of a representative collection on New Zealand for various lectures which he gave when he returned to England. The lecture series are filed in later sequences.
