- Description
Shows a scene on the Waimakariri River running through the town of Kaiapoi, facing seaward. In the foreground is a man in a red coat and blue hat sitting in a row boat; in the middle of the river is a two-masted sailboat with a red and blue ensign. A house and outhouse can be seen on the bank to the right. A bridge spans the river, and it would appear a train is crossing it, as billows of smoke are visible. Banks Peninsula can be seen faintly in the distance.
