Description

Poster promoting the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition and the art deco design work of the architect and contractors, shows a perspective drawing by George Muston, of the large central courtyard. In the centre is a concrete-block walled sunken garden with a pool in its centre. In the centre of the pool is a pedestal fountain topped with a ball from the base of which water spills. Stylishly dressed visitors walk or sit in this sunken area, and many more walk around the surrounding higher paved pedestrian area which is flanked by display booths or shops. Further away in the centre is a sculpture promoting "Gas, power, light, energy, economy". Overarching all is a sunrise effect of concentric golden semicircles, with the date "1940" at top centre.

The booths along either side may be for imaginary products and include:

Left side: Carpet, Pons, Pellen Chromium, Sweets, Cands, Perfume

Right side, from foreground: Prestige Millinery, APN, Begs, Monel

Quantity: 1 colour art print(s).

Physical Description: Chromolithograph, 762 x 1018 mm.
