Description

Drawing shows a bi-plane on an airfield. A uniformed man carries a sack of mail from a van on the far right, to be loaded on to the plane. The centre back ground has the word "Airmail" written above sun rays emanating from cumulus clouds, with Mount Cook in the left distance, and a steaming Mount Ngauruhoe in the right distance.

This stamp design was a competition entry. It may have been for the 1931 stamp issue, a competition won by Leonard Cornwall Mitchell.
