"Ub" 282 steam locomotive (4-6-0 type), photographed by D J Sherriff. This image is a film negative taken from a print in Albert Percy Godber's album, Vol 108, p 48 (PA1-q-101) in which Godber acknowledges D J Sherriff as the photographer.
Inscriptions: Album page - top centre - No. 282; Album page - bottom centre - 1898. Nos 281, 282, 328, 333 dumped at Oamaru. 1936.; Album page - bottom right - D.J. Sherriff
Steam locomotive "Ub" 282 was built by Baldwin in 1898 (maker's no. 16046/98), went into service in December 1898, and was written off in April 1934. See "Register of New Zealand Railways steam locomotives, 1863-1971" by W G Lloyd (1974)
