View of Thames from the sea. Shows bare hills and cliffs and a line of buildings strung along the shore, a large number of them factories with tall chimneys. The United Pumping Association is on the left, the Caledonian inthe centre, and the Caledonian Battery on the far right. There are tunnels drilled into the cliffs above the water level, and a rail emerging from one tunnel toward the Caledonian Battery on the right. There are several houses further up the hills and bush along the tops of the hills.
