Description

The scene is an 'aerial' view of the North Island showing various scenarios of the future. Around Wellington a man is saying to another that the government has called for another cost-benefit analysis on the proposed Wellington Airport runway. On the south Wairarapa coast one man is saying to another that one night they (the South Islanders) cut the cable (electric power cable) and sailed away. Dotted across the middle of the island are unsuccessful oil drilling sites while in Taranaki a man is commenting that the Ministry of Energy announcement is expected on what to do with Maui gas. Driving up the island is a car worth $80,000. In the north a group of people are watching an airliner full of emigrants fly away, amidst comments about the high price of air fares, Vietnamese boat people and reduction of population in the north. Offshore a cargo ship carrying New Zealand butter is heading towards an island to dump it's cargo which has been rejected by the E.E.C.
