Cabinet card portrait of Makire, a Maori woman from the Hawkes Bay district, wearing a korowai (tag cloak), taken 17 December 1892 by Samuel Carnell of Napier.

Inscriptions: Marginal notes on negative - centre left - Makire 17/12/92

The korowai appears in other portraits by CCarnell, and was probably owned by the studio.
